Job Description


A. Clinical/Technical/Service

  1. Troubleshoots and repairs, to the system and component level, analog and digital equipment
  2. Troubleshoots and repairs electromechanical equipment
  3. Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment serviced by this department
  4. Accurately documents all work performed using the Biomedical Engineering Equipment Management Computer System
  5. All activities to be performed at either site as directed by department management staff
  6. Competently uses electronic test equipment, tools and soldering equipment
  7. Maintains all documentation in a quality fashion and timely manner
B. Organizational/Managerial
  1. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities
  2. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information
  3. Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  4. Assists in developing methods to raise the department’s level of cost effectiveness
  5. Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  6. Adheres to hospital standards for attendance
C. Educational/Professional Development
  1. Participates in the development of other staff members
  2. Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements
  3. Identifies learning strengths and needs
D. Communication/Relationships
  1. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families and significant others
  2. Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community
  3. Adheres to Continuum’s legal and ethical standards
  4. May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary

Associate’s degree and one to two years experience in a hospital based Biomedical Engineering department or in a medical equipment service organization


Must be able to use ordinary hand and power tools, electronic test equipment and soldering equipment.
