Per Diem Occupational Therapist (74830)


Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately evaluate and effectively treat all assigned patients according to prescription and working closely with MD when indicated
  • Devises a treatment plan that addresses individual age-specific needs and patient goals to emphasize functional restoration and quality of life
  • The therapist demonstrates knowledge and skill to fabricate splints and adaptive equipment according to prescription and patient needs
  • Coordinates with other services when scheduling patients and be able to adjust schedule to provide additional coverage when necessary
  • Actively completes all required documentation including initial evaluation, progress notes, D/C summaries, DME forms, FIM forms, HEP , and statistics in a timely basis
  • Instructs family members and nursing staff on management of patient activities of daily living in the hospital and provides necessary HEP as part of a safe discharge
  • Reports on patients progress during chart rounds, team conferences, and family meetings as is appropriate
  • Maintains equipment and clinic space in proper working order and assists with monitoring of inventory
  • Participates in supervision of OT students, COTA’s aides, and volunteers as assigned
  • Attends all departmental meetings, and presents in-services as required
  • Attends workshops, conferences, and courses to update treatment skills and knowledge base for enhance clinical expertise
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (Masters Degree preferred)
  • New York State OT License.
