The manager has 24 hour accountability for clinical care and fiscal productivity for a designated patient care service area. The manager is responsible for assessing, identifying, planning, implementing and evaluating the processes, technology, personnel, & facility needs required to achieve patient outcomes safely and cost effectively in a patient centered environment. This role nourishes the motivation & commitments essential to achieving MSHS mission, goals, standards, policies in a patient centered model of care delivery system.
Job Title: Nurse Manager (ICU)
Roles & Responsibilities
As a nurse manager, you will assume 24 hour accountability of the clinical care and fiscal productivity for a 13 Bed general ICU unit with 20 employees.
Huddles with staff at the start of each shift, identifying high-risk patients who require special attention and communicates to nursing leadership concerns or issues identified during huddle and shift
Empowers staff to use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care.
Reviews unit progress, changes, and compliance with quality and safety metrics with clinical nurses and other members of the healthcare team.
Prepares, implements and monitors unit budgets, including capital equipment allocation, budget variances, management of OT and vacancies according to MSHS financial goals
- BSN, required
- MSN preferred
- 5 years of nursing clinical experience in critical care and med/surg
- 2-4 years as a nursing manager
- Critical Care Certification preferred
- NYS RN
