Job Title: Nutritionist

 

 Roles & Responsibilities:



Duties and responsibilities of the RD or RDN include:

  • Providing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition care to meet patient goals
  • Performing nutrition screening, evaluation, and assessment for patients
  • Counseling and providing education to patients and families, as well as the behavioral goals to meet recommendations
  • Developing educational materials and tools, which may at times include digital content or communications such as blogs or articles
  • Developing nutrition programming for a variety of goals and needs
  • Developing and managing group workshops and educational seminars
  • Maintaining credentials and continuing education through the Academy
  • Charting and keeping records to monitor patient progress
  • Assist team at large with social media content development
  • Stay up to date on latest nutrition research to ensure the highest level of care

  • Requirements:

    Qualifications

    • RD or RDN credentialing
    • Minimum 2 years experience in nutrition counseling
    • Minimum 2 years experience in sports and/or performance nutrition

    Education

    ·         Bachelors’ degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, nutritional sciences, or human nutrition

    • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship of ≥900 hours
    • Masters not required, but preferred

    Skills and abilities
    The private-practice RD or RDN has the following skills and abilities:

    • Knowledge of nutrition programming, including menu planning and the conversion of nutrient recommendations into food and menus
    • Strong knowledge of performance nutrition including sports nutrition and eating for mental performance
    • Counseling and educational training for individual and group work
    • Comfortable speaking in a group setting or to executive-level clients
    • Maintenance of effective relationships with other health care professionals (when sharing patients)
    • Strong written, verbal, and communication skills
    • Ability to work with patient interests and health in mind
    • Experience with social media programming (Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, etc)
    • Strong interpersonal and client engagement skills

Requirements:

·         Bachelors degree or higher, with completion of approved American Dietetic Association program for qualifying experience. 

·         2 years clinical experience preferred. Maintain RD status through employment.

·         Must be a Registered Dietitian or registration-eligible, having completed an internship from an accredited ADA program or equivalent experience.  If registration-eligible, must pass RD exam within 1 year of hire.
