Roles & Responsibilities: 
The Office of Strategy Management oversees a suite of services that support the hospital and ensure timely and effective implementation of the strategic plan. The Associate Director will be an integral team member responsible for overseeing the staff, operations and resources within the project management division of the Office of Strategy Management.  Projects will span the areas of clinical workflow improvements, technical implementations, and major or minor facility and capital improvements. The Associate Director must ensure optimal results in project implementation, provide strategic input and support to the Executive Director and sustain high engagement and morale of the team. The Associate Director ensures that the department is run according to hospital and institutional policies and any applicable regulatory requirements, while also considering the long-term needs of the department and longitudinal or strategic goals of the hospital.
  • Oversees daily operations within division of Project Management.  Drives progress by assisting project managers, committees, and key partners in operationalizing plans and hitting critical milestones. Ensures use of standard tools and templates to support project work.
  • Recruits, trains and mentors staff in accordance with all internal policies and procedures. Evaluates staff performance and provides timely and constructive feedback.
  • Supervises project management staff in the implementation of projects ranging from single-departmental initiatives, to multi-departmental, complex and matrixed projects of a broad scope. Assigns and delegates projects and other strategic tasks or analyses. Ensures proper level-loading of work among team and predicts future bandwidth to adequately support hospital and C-level requests.
  • Manages the implementation of one or more complex projects of broad scope. Drives progress by creating detailed project plans and timelines. Oversees project activities through assigned staff including direct reports, project teams and clinical subject matter experts. Facilitates project-related meetings and workgroups.
  • Assists Executive Director in strategic program development for one or more key service lines. Analyzes and prepares data to inform Executive Director and key stakeholders. Prepares and iterates presentation materials for executive audiences. Develops and supports project plans as required.
  • Assists Executive Director in the annual development of departmental budget. Maintains oversight of intern and per diem annual expenses.
  • Oversees and administers capacity building programs including; graduate level intern program and Development School for Youth (DSY) program.  Ensures continuous success of the program through continuous quality review and reflection of program. Recruits and hires all intern positions. May supervise (directly or indirectly) intern work portfolio.  
  • Assists Executive Director in developing, maintaining and enforcing departmental standard operating policies and procedures. Regularly reviews policies and procedures and makes changes or recommends changes as necessary.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Identifies and supports continuing education opportunities for direct reports. Provides professional support and guidance to facilitate staff participation in professional development.
  • Provide leadership for staff members in the form of ongoing training, performance feedback, goal setting, and problem resolution; cultivate a culture of innovation and creativity in service of better patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree in public health/administration or business or a related field or equivalent education and experience; Masters (MPA, MPH, MBA or related) is strongly preferred.  PMP certification preferred.

  • 5-7 years of experience in a professional business environment, with health related, project management experience on range of complex and matrixed projects is required. 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity is strongly preferred.
