Job Title: Supervisor Quality Control 

 
Roles & Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Supervisor of Chemistry section (8:00 am to 4:00pm) will work together with other supervisors of Chemistry (day shift and evening/midnight shift) to manage laboratory analysis of patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease for all patient populations in accordance with established Federal, State, and local regulatory specifications, as well as Hospital and Department policies and procedures. The QC supervisor, as a member of the core lab management team, is also responsible for overall technical supervision, employee, and regulatory compliance within chemistry section. The QC supervisor will report to the core lab operation manager and the chemistry lab director.

Typical Duties of the QC supervisor includes but not limited to:

Ensures pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic process of patient testing are performed according to age, gender, and specimen acceptability criteria prior to releasing information for use in patient care and treatment.

Share the responsibility with chemistry supervisor of QC review, Qc lot to lot study, correlation study between instruments, linearity study, AMR verification and instrument maintenance chart review of the assigned area within the chemistry lab; Share the responsibility with chemistry supervisor of staff management functions i.e., assess qualifications, orient, and train, supervise, assess skills and competence, participating in performance review of lab staff.

Serves as the technical expert and information resource within the chemistry department.

Ensures technical, mechanical, and quality control problems are resolved as they occur.

Ensures necessary instrumentation, testing materials and supplies, and other requisite resources are acquired, stored and maintained appropriately.

Ensure the inventory monitoring for the reagent of chemistry lab is done according to the regulatory requirement, and the QC QA procedures are followed by the staff;

Ensures employee participation in proficiency surveys, quality assurance activities and mandatory training continuing education program

Performs Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems (LIS and HIS) computer functions necessary to complete pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes, and other tasks as needed.

Ensures all activities within the scope of service continuously meet established regulatory standards.

Complies with all Federal, State and Local Regulatory requirements related to health care delivery.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Requirements:



Qualifications: Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited University.
  • Approximate 5-6 years of clinical laboratory experience in the appropriate specialty, such as chem, micro, hematology and diagnostic immunology.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Courses in and/or progressive management leadership experience.
  • Courses in computer science and/or experience with laboratory information systems.
  • Training in advanced laboratory analyzer operation and maintenance.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

Documented evidence of registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP) or equivalent education and/or certification.

NYS Licensed laboratory technologist.
