Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and directs the activities of the Ultrasound section of Radiology. Performs ultrasound examinations under the direction of the Radiologist


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                             

    1.      Photographs and records visual images onto radiographic film for diagnostic interpretation by Radiologist.     

    2.      Supervises the operation of ultrasound equipment.

    3.      Schedules and assigns work load of ultrasound technologists.

    4.      Maintains a library of books and journals for reference by technologists and students of the department      . 

    5.      Calculates statistics Solves problems pertaining to area of responsibility.

    6.      Assists in the teaching and training of Residents and students.

    7.      Orders and maintains supplies Maintains cleanliness of equipment and area of responsibility  

    8.      Interviews candidates.       

    9.      Oversees registration of patients, patient scheduling and preparation for examination.   

    10.  Evaluates and reports any malfunctions and ascertains need for repair or maintenance Ensures equipment is utilized, stored and maintained in serviceable order.


    Education Requirements                                                                                                                 

    Graduated from an approved ultrasound program, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.


    Experience Requirements                                                                                                                 

    One year supervisory experience and 3 years ultrasound experience.


    Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)                                                           

    Certification: Certified Sonographer & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)                              

    Issuing Agency: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) & American Heart Association
