Roles & Responsibilities: 
  •   Administers and provides anesthesia and related services under the supervision of an attending anesthesiologist
  •  Demonstrates competence in the administration of anesthesia and related services in accordance with all pertinent regulations, guidelines and protocols
  •  Utilizes standards and guidelines for Nurse Anesthesia Practice as established by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
  • Performs and properly documents an initial pre-anesthesia assessment; Reviews completed pre-anesthesia questionnair
  •  Collaborates with interdisciplinary team and requests consultations as may be required
  •  Coordinates with attending anesthesiologist and surgical teams
  • Formulates, as directed, and implements the anesthetic plan to include the induction, maintenance and emergence from regional and general anesthesist
  • Demonstrates competency in all procedures related to regional anesthesia, general anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC), including the induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia
  • Demonstrates competency in all procedures related to adult and pediatric airway management including the use of fiberoptic, LMA and other difficult airway devices; all procedures related to cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and, in the insertion of invasive monitoring; interprets data obtained and treats appropriately
  • Provides immediate post anesthesia care as indicated
  • Performs routine post anesthesia evaluation when necessary
  •  Maintains complete and accurate patient records, including all anesthesia records (manual and computerized), and pertinent records on PRISM
  • Conducts all appropriate safety checks before the delivery of anesthetics. Takes appropriate safety precautions to minimize the risks to the patient in the delivery of anesthesia care
  • Utilizes appropriate infection control precautions 


  • NYS RN and CRNA with Master's degree in Anesthesia nursing and BCLS, ACLS and PALS with at least 2 years critical care nursing experience.
