Job Title: Assistant Project Manager 

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is responsible for supporting and manage several properties throughout Mount Sinai Health System with a focus on facilities engineering and operations for all of Mount Sinai Health System’s data centers and other critical facilities. This person will need to be autonomous, flexible, and capable of managing multiple active projects/locations at a given time. The APM will:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Execute Capital Projects including HVAC system upgrades, Electrical power systems and associated distribution upgrades. Oversee the proper startup of new equipment and commissioning
  • Respond to emergency situation and execute immediate solutions to minimize downtime and communicate conditions and results to Senior Management
  • Identify areas of risk, develop and execute resolutions to enhance critical infrastructure operations and reliability
  • Work with IT Senior Management to execute Data Center capacity planning, consolidations, standards and design including HVAC, UPS, and Electrical sizing
  • Confirm proper operation of and maintenance of UPS system and confirm readiness during utility power outages
  • Direct the proper operation of equipment to maximize efficiency, minimize energy consumption and increase longevity
  • Focus on equipment reliability, quality improvement, risk mitigation, achieving performance objectives and sustaining operational improvement. Provide guidance for project implementation
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the Real Estate Facilities department and offsite medical properties on physical plant maintenance and projects
  • Liaise with customers, vendors, and other hospital departments, to schedule shutdowns and tie-ins, to perform maintenance and new installs. Minimize the disruption to hospital patients, staff and service due to construction
  • Effectively assist with monitoring project schedule and budget
  • Review bid documents, drawings and coordinates pre-bid activities
  • Coordinate periodic project management meetings with architectural and engineering consultants, contractors, subcontractors and user clients
  • Coordinate contracted services and ensure vendor/customer/tenant compliance with terms.
  • Maintain complete project files through project close out


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or combination of applicable facilities experience and education
  • 6 months-1 year minimum managing construction projects for a hospital or other institution
  • Basic knowledge of building MEP and critical infrastructure systems ( Emergency power and cooling systems)
  • Basic knowledge  of life safety, fire alarm systems , vertical transportation
  • Basic knowledge of capital /operating budgets and controls
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • comfortable with the use of Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Powerpoint
  • Well organized and strong ability to give attention to detail
