Outpatient Psychiatrist needed at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in Manhattan!

Job Description

We are currently seeking highly motivated, forward-thinking, and team oriented Psychiatrists for Mount Sinai Beth Israel.  The Icahn School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental disorders. We are ranked #6 nationally in NIH funding, and listed as one of the top regional hospital departments by U.S. News & World Report. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health System encompasses the clinical psychiatric services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai Roosevelt. This combined entity has over 400 inpatient behavioral health beds and a robust clinical ambulatory platform with over 1 million visits in 2014.  Our vision is to be the premier provider of behavioral health services through the development and delivery of evidence-based, integrated, and cost-effective models of care across populations with mental health/substance use disorders. 
We provide care to individuals with a broad range of mental illnesses using a team approach, including psychopharmacological care and individual, group and family therapy. Close collaboration with on-site primary care and substance use services is built in.  The service is a major teaching site for psychiatry residents, medical students and psychologists. The service is also undergoing significant diversification, and will be a leading site of DSRIP projects for the Mount Sinai Health System.    

Responsibilities include evaluating new patients for psychiatric care and providing ongoing evidence-based care to a cohort of patients, collaborating with a health home care coordinator, and onsite primary care provider to provide integrated care.  
Supervision and teaching of trainees in both the clinic and classroom are essential components and there are opportunities to participate in QI projects, hospital committees and to engage in academic endeavors such as research and presentations as well as instruction and mentoring of medical students. The position includes an appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as well as competitive salary and benefits. 
Position Qualifications: 
  • Medical Degree from an Accredited University
  • New York State Medical License
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry, if more than one year out of training
  • Experience preferred, but recent residency graduates will also be considered
  • Strong teaching and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven department
