The Mount Sinai Health System is currently seeking a full-time Attending Physician for the Department of Psychiatry to join the Addiction Institute Mount Sinai Beth Israel, AKA Stuyvensant Square Addiction Services. This is an outpatient position leading a multidisciplinary team treating patients with co-occurring disorders and also providing psychopharm treatment of addiction. Appropriate candidates could additionally qualify to be the Director of the Psychiatric Addiction Fellowship. The practice is located in the lower east side of Manhattan and serves a diverse community with countless cultural activities and excellent school districts. MSBI has long been a champion of treating underserved and vulnerable populations and has a rich history in the treatment of persons suffering from addictions. This is an opportunity to work in our outpatient setting, which includes Outpatient Ambulatory Withdrawal Management and Outpatient Clinic and Rehabilitation services. AIMS-BI offers comprehensive care as they have access to MSBI’s full range of hospital services and access to the full Department of Psychiatry’s services. Additionally, the service has a comprehensive support team, which includes PAs, nurses, and counselors. 
The chosen candidate will become part of the AIMS-BI team in the heart of Manhattan. The position involves using your skills as a psychiatrist, addictionologist, teacher, and team leader. The physician will be responsible for leading a team of counselors, nurses, and physician assistants with the goal of providing superb acute addiction care, but with a constant focus upon retaining patients in the long term care of their chronic illnesses. For those interested in research, there are many opportunities and mentorship. Teaching responsibilities are encouraged, but not required. Competitive salary and benefits offered.
Position Description:
  • Outpatient Psychiatrist with experience in Addiction Subspecialty Certification/Boards preferred but not required
  • Appropriate candidates may qualify to be the Director of the Psychiatric Addictions Fellowship
  • Serve a diverse population and live in a neighborhood with excellent school districts and numerous cultural activities
  • Minimum 75% of your clinical work will be with patients suffering from Substance Use Disorders.

  • Administrative responsibilities: physician is the team leader
  • Teaching and research are encouraged, but not required

Position Qualifications:
  • Medical Degree from an Accredited University
  • New York Medical License
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry

The Outpatient Addiction Service is integrated fully with the Inpatient Detoxification and Rehabilitation Units and also the full Department of Psychiatry.
