The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking an outstanding Site Chair for the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West.
The Icahn School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental illness and substance use disorders. We are ranked #6 nationally in NIH funding, and listed as one of the top regional hospital departments by U.S. News & World Report. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses the clinical behavioral health services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Queens. We have over 350 inpatient behavioral health beds and 4 psychiatric emergency locations (CPEP/Psych ED), and had over 1.2 million ambulatory behavioral health visits in 2017.
The Department of Psychiatry Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West has one of the largest and most diverse platform of behavioral health services in the Mount Sinai Health System. The Department oversees 154 inpatient psychiatry and detox/rehab beds, 2 CPEPs, and had nearly 200,000 ambulatory visits in 2017. Our ambulatory services span the ambulatory continuum of care, ranging from mental health clinics for children, adolescents, and adults; to specialized treatment programs for personality disorders, dually diagnosed adolescents, and psychotic disorders; to a robust ambulatory addictions service including chemical dependence clinic/rehab and opioid treatment program. We are dedicated to the provision of outstanding behavioral health care for the community and effective collaboration with primary care and community-based providers to provide comprehensive, whole health care. The Department has over 80 faculty members, and has an adult psychiatry residency program and multiple ACGME-accredited fellowships.
The Site Chair will oversee all aspects of clinical care and operations; ensure exceptional quality and content of care with measurable performance indicators; and develop new and innovative clinical programs and initiatives. S/he will also be responsible for the sound financial stewardship of the Department, and the assurance of highly efficient, cost effective provision of services. The Site Chair will assure outstanding training and education of residents and all trainees, and an active focus on continuing education and mentorship of faculty. S/he will also ensure continued successful collaboration with the research platform of the School of Medicine. The Site Chair is also a critical leader in the Mount Sinai Health System Behavioral Health service line; s/he will ensure campus alignment with service line goals and objectives, and will further strengthen collaborations with other departments, as well as with community-based partners.

NYS license to practice medicine and Board Certification in Psychiatry required
At least ten years of senior clinical administrative leadership experience preferably within a hospital-based setting
Demonstrated track record of outstanding leadership and ability to achieve results
Exceptional administrative and organizational skills and ability to work effectively in matrixed environment
Strong understanding of behavioral health clinical operations
Demonstrated history of strong fiscal management
Exceptional clinical knowledge and communication skills
Must possess highly collaborative and proactive approach, and demonstrate commitment to high-quality, cost-effective health care
A strong work ethic and desire to participate in and grow a team-oriented, performance-driven department.
Qualifications for Associate Professor or higher level required.
