Roles & Responsibilities:
  • A postdoctoral position is now available in the Slesinger laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. We work closely with Dr. Alison Goate’s laboratory as a part of the Collaborative Studies on Genetics of Alcoholism (COGA). Together, we are investigating the genetic links to alcoholism using human neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem cells as a model. The project involves examining the effects of genetics and alcohol on different types of human neurons, using patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, immunohistochemistry, and transcriptomic analyses. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with an interest in applying a multidisciplinary approach to studying alcohol abuse.

Interested candidates should send a curriculum vitae, a brief description of their research goals and names of three references to



  • Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience/Biochemistry or other relevant field, and one or more first-author publication(s) from PhD.
