Licensed Stationary Engineer-Mount Sinai Morningside
Responsible for the physical plant and operations to assure the proper environment, health and safety of patients and hospital staff.
Responsibilities
- Assures proper operation maintenance and service of all equipment in the Power Plant associated with the Engineering department.
- Ensures the technical correction and completion of contracted work
- Maintains logs for equipment, service, temperature, flows, consumption, as required. Notes changes in equipment status in logs
- Operates, repairs, and maintains all steam engines, air compressors, generators, motors, pumps, ecology equipment, etc. by adjusting controls to maintain the optimum of operating conditions
- Maintains and operates all electrical equipment, heat and power
- Operates all stationary diesel engines for emergency power and transfers throughout the buildings
- Responsible for all oxygen, medical compressed air, vacuum systems, air compressors, pumps, laundry/trash chutes, compactors and elevators, building temperature control, pneumatic tube systems, as well as, all boilers and associated auxiliary equipment
- Performs tests, as required, on all equipment and adjusts for optimum operation
- Protects all facilities, acquainted with all Policies and Procedures for department and safety
- Works with all departments to provide smooth operation and patient safety
- Monitors and coordinates activities of other engineering personnel assigned to the watch and oversees the work of outside contractors which may be functioning during the watch period
- Senior engineer present assumes the responsibilities for the fire brigade until such time as the NYC Fire Department arrives and takes jurisdiction when necessary
Qualifications
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent. Associate technical degree or two years of college preferred
- Must be familiar with all hand tools, specialty tools and equipment required to operate machinery throughout the complex. Must be familiar with the BATC system and its operations, alarms and the control and adjustment of all equipment associated with the operation of the system.

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51.81 - $61.97 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
